Employee dies from 'medical event' at Onalaska Wendy's, police confirm

ONALASKA, Wis. An employee died from a medical event at a Wendy's location Wednesday night, Onalaska Police confirmed.

According to Onalaska Police Chief Charles Ashbeck, the employee was discovered unresponsive around 7:30 p.m. near the office area in the back of the restaurant. Staff attempted life-saving measures, including CPR until emergency responders arrived. The attempts were not successful, Ashbeck said.

Ashbeck called the death suspicious, but clarified that the suspicion is not related to criminal activity of any other parties, but rather the untimely nature of the death related to the employee's age.

Ashbeck expects an autopsy to be performed. The county medical examiner is involved with the investigation
