Fire at Fitchburg Around (Madison Wisconsin Area) apartment displaces 24 units

A fire early Saturday displaced 24 units at a Fitchburg apartment complex.

According to Fitchburg Fire Department, dispatchers were alerted at approximately 3:15 AM.

A resident reported seeing smoke and fire in the buildings hallways. When fire crews arrived, they initially reported no flames or visible smoke but were able to report the smell of smoke. They later identified smoke and fire coming from the attic.

Fitchburg Fire Chief Joe Pulvermacher says 24 units are currently displaced because the electrical system is being checked out. No word was provided on how many units were damaged by fire or smoke.

The American Red Cross is on scene assisting those who could not return to their apartments.

The cause is under investigation by the Fitchburg Fire Department.
