One person is injured, and a house is damaged after an early morning house fire in Sparta on Sunday.
A release from the Sparta Area Fire District says the department was dispatched just before 4 a.m. Sunday, when they saw heavy smoke and flames coming out of the structure.
The release said the occupant of the house was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose. They suffered second degree burns and were transferred to a La Crosse hospital.
A dog was able to get out of the house with no injuries.
The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, and a motorhome parked next to the house also sustained heavy fire damage.
Sparta Area Fire Chief Mike Arnold said in the release that he is aware of where the fire started, and the cause is now under investigation.
