LA CRESCENT, Min.
In a recent announcement by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), the charming town of La Crescent, Minnesota, has been named one of the 11 most livable small towns in America.
AARP, a renowned organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of older Americans, conducted an extensive evaluation of small towns across the country for their annual Livability Index.
These towns are judges on seven different factors. Housing, neighborhood, transportation, environment, health, engagement and opportunity.
La Crescent scored the highest on the health, engagement, and opportunity categories, which is what landed them in the top ten.
Samuel Byrne moved to La Crescent just over a year ago and he says that the small town's tranquility and the welcoming community is what makes it so great.
"I love the size of the town. It's laid back, and the people seem extraordinarily friendly. Also, I actually enjoy the weather. I was here for the exciting winter, and believe it or not I enjoyed that too. It was all new to me since I'm from Oregon."
La Crescent received and overall score of 70 out of 100. Which actually puts them in the top 4. However, taking the top spot is Aspen, Colorado with a score of 73 out of 100.
As news of this recognition spreads the acknowledgment is expected to have a positive impact on tourism and further enhance the town's reputation as a desirable place to call home.
