SPARTA, Wis. Authorities in western Wisconsin arrested a man for his 6th OWI after he allegedly tried to elude officers by turning off his taillights.
According to the Sparta Police Department, on February 3 around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance. Officials say that the suspect fled before officers arrived.
Officers found the suspect, identified as a 38-year-old man from Sparta, a short time later. The release states that the man was uncooperative and fled the scene in a vehicle.
Authorities then started a pursuit with the man, who allegedly turned off his taillights in an attempt to elude law enforcement. The suspect then reportedly left the road and went through a cornfield.
Eventually, the vehicle got stuck on an embankment and was taken into custody.
Officials say that the man is currently in jail on several recommended charges. Those charges include OWI 6th offense and 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety.
