Sparta firefighter and Ho-Chunk police employee arrested for child enticement and solicitation

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) -- A 26-year-old man who serves as both a Sparta firefighter and an employee of the Ho-Chunk Police Department has been arrested for child enticement and solicitation of nude images from a child.

According to a release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested Peter Schneider Friday.

Authorities said evidence showed Schneider requested nude photos from a 17-year-old on several occasions, as well as having asked them to meet in a private area for sexual contact.

Schneider is an employee of the Ho-Chunk Police Department and is a firefighter with the Sparta Area Fire District. The sheriff's office says the initial information related to the incident was brought to their attention by fire chief Mike Arnold.

Per a release from Arnold Friday afternoon, "Firefighter Peter Schneider has been placed on administrative leave at this time pending an ongoing investigation with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office."

Schneider has been relieved of his duties at the Ho-Chunk Police Department, according to the sheriff's office.

A judge ordered Schneider held on a $1,500 cash bond.
