Building Bridges One At A Time In Sparta WI

Sparta will soon dedicate a new bridge, built by the same group of volunteers who've built six others in the city.

You may know about them.  They're called the Shovelmen.  Five community volunteers who contribute to the city in a number of ways, including bridge building.

The latest, called the "Child Center Bridge," is near the site of the former Wisconsin Child Center.

Today, it connects the 11th and 12th holes at the River Run Golf Course.

A dedication is set for August 22, 2023.

The Shovelmen (Picture above) Are Reinhard Mueller, Al Jenkins, Jim Cook and Kerry Schuman.  The fifth Shovelman, Gerald Kast, was away when we recorded this story.
