Several parts of the United States could see heavy snowfall early next week, according to this weather map. This coming weekend, there will be unseasonably warm conditions in several states, but a forecasted storm will see these temperatures quickly drop and potentially bring snow.
Novia Scotia in Canada saw heavy snowfall this week, brought upon by an Atlantic storm. This storm system subsequently brought dry air across the central and eastern US, per an AccuWeather report .
This system will be replaced in much of the United States this weekend by a southwesterly airflow, which will bring warmer temperatures in large parts of the Ohio Valley and Southern states. However, the balmier weather will be short-lived and will soon be replaced by colder weather and potential snow, caused by a different storm system.

"While the January thaw and break from the stormy pattern extended into early February, there is going to be a change in the pattern with a potentially impactful storm coming swinging across the Midwest and Northeastern states from Monday to Tuesday," said AccuWeather meteorologist Dean DeVore.
Meanwhile, AccuWeather chief meteorologist Jonathan Porter told Newsweek, that the snowy weather could be brought upon by the merging of two storms merging together. "On Tuesday, those distinct disturbances merge and result in a more intense storm right along the eastern seaboard," Porter said. "It's looking less likely that this would be just a storm that passes harmlessly out to sea."

While the severity and the track of the storm are still unknown, it is forecast that the New England states will experience the brunt of the colder weather. Snow could also be seen in the Midwestern U.S., Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and then into large parts of New England.
New York City is likely to just see rain, but Porter said that snow is also a possibility. The map also shows that there will be heavy rain in Missouri, Illinois, Pennsylvania , Indiana and Ohio.
"One thing is for sure, this storm will start a pattern that brings colder, more active weather from the Midwest to the Northeast with reinforcing shots of seasonably cold air masses with the potential for some clipper systems to bring snow events," said DeVore.
However, the weather experts said that, due to the storm being days away, it may not materialize as predicted. Therefore, there remains the possibility that there will only be light snow seen in Ohio Valley, central and southern Appalachians and the mid-Atlantic.
