Shots Fired at Menomonie Kwik Trip

MENOMONIE, WI

Truckers parked at a Kwik Trip in the city of Menomonie were evacuated Friday night while SWAT officers worked to secure a man they believe fired several gunshots in the parking lot around 9 p.m.

Menomonie Police say a Wisconsin State State Patrol Trooper notified them after hearing several gunshots in the truck parking area just north of the convenience store. When officers arrived they found shell casings near a truck parked in the lot. Police were able to identify the driver and attempted to contact him by phone and public address. After several failed attempts, officers were finally able to make contact and negotiated a peaceful surrender.

37-year-old Saul Juarez of Illinois was arrested for Intoxicated Use of a Firearm and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. No one was hurt.
