Linda's Bakery in West Salem received a grant Friday that will go towards solar paneling for their roof.
The bakery is one of twenty Wisconsin businesses receiving a grant from the USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
The grant was pushed by Wisc. Senator Tammy Baldwin to help farmers and small businesses in rural areas become more energy efficient.
Linda's Bakery received over $161,373 dollars to go towards covering their entire roof with solar panels.
The owner says the new paneling will help them cut costs significantly.
"That's going to be a big savings for us, we expect to get the life on those is going to be about 25 years. and it looks like there's probably an 8-to-10-year payback on that investment for us," says owner Marc Anderson.
The project is expected to save Linda's Bakery $34,500 a year in electrical costs. The solar paneling will be completed by the end of July.
