A childbirth myth is spreading on TikTok. Doctors say the truth is different

Ashley Martinez has four sons and is pregnant with the daughter she’s wanted for years.

Last month, she posted a video online imploring doctors to prioritize her life, not the life of her unborn baby, if complications arise when she is in labor and it comes down to that choice.

The San Antonio, Texas, resident is due in May and is one of a number of pregnant people who have recently posted “living will” videos on TikTok.

Martinez had an emergency C-section during her last pregnancy after her umbilical cord came out before her baby, a rare but dangerous condition known as an umbilical cord prolapse that can deprive a baby of vital blood flow and oxygen.

Martinez described her last delivery as terrifying. Eight months after the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, ending a constitutional right to abortion, she said she worries about what would happen if she faced similar challenges again.

Tesla recalling nearly 363,000 vehicles equipped with 'Full Self-Driving'

Tesla is recalling all 363,000 US vehicles with its so-called "Full Self Driving" driver assist software due to safety risks, another blow to the feature that is central to the automaker's business model.

Full self-driving," as it currently stands, navigates local roads with steering, braking and acceleration, but requires a human driver prepared to take control at any moment, as the system makes judgment errors. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that, based on its analysis, Tesla's FSD feature "led to an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety based on insufficient adherence to traffic safety laws." And it warned FSD could violate traffic laws at some intersections "before some drivers may intervene."

Ryan Seacrest leaving 'Live with Kelly and Ryan'

Ryan Seacrest announced Thursday he'll be leaving "Live with Kelly and Ryan," ending a six-year run as co-host of the daytime talk show.

Once Seacrest exits, Kelly Ripa will be joined on the show by her husband, Mark Consuelos, and the show will reportedly be rebranded "Live with Kelly and Mark."

Seacrest shared the news on Thursday's show, saying that this was something they had been talking about "for a long time" and he made the decision last year that this will be his last season as co-host.

Seacrest will remain plenty busy. He has his own radio show, hosts "American Idol" and also hosts ABC's annual "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" special. In 2021, Seacrest ended a 14-year run co-hosting the E! network's red carpet coverage too.

"Working alongside Kelly over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career," Seacrest said in a statement shared with Variety. "She has been an amazing partner, friend, and confidant, and although we will always be a part of each other’s lives, I will miss our mornings together. I also want to thank Michael Gelman and the entire staff and crew – we’ve made memories to last a lifetime, met some of the most incredible people and had the warmest welcome into the homes of so many viewers across America. Evacuations ordered amid fears of an explosion as an Ohio train continues burning days after derailment

Residents near the site of a train derailment that sparked a massive fire in East Palestine, Ohio, were urged to evacuate immediately Sunday night due to the risk of an explosion, authorities said.

"Within the last two hours, a drastic temperature change has taken place in a rail car, and there is now the potential of a catastrophic tanker failure which could cause an explosion with the potential of deadly shrapnel traveling up to a mile," Gov. Mike DeWine warned in a statement Sunday.

The train crashed Friday while carrying hazardous materials and led to a large inferno that continues to burn, which has also prompted concerns about air quality.

AZMARIN, Syria (AP) — A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked wide swaths of Turkey and Syria early Monday, toppling hundreds of buildings and killing more than 2,300 people. Hundreds were still believed to be trapped under rubble, and the toll was expected to rise as rescue workers searched mounds of wreckage in cities and towns across the area.

On both sides of the border, residents jolted out of sleep by the pre-dawn quake rushed outside on a cold, rainy and snowy night. Buildings were reduced to piles of pancaked floors, and major aftershocks or new quakes, including one nearly as strong as the first, continued to rattle the region.
